Power of Prayer

Prayer is conversation with God! It can sometimes feel like hard work, but one of the most fruitful spiritual activities that produces long lasting fruit!

What a great privilege we have to carry everything to God in prayer! God does not want us to be burdened with our anxieties, but rather that we would take them to him in exchange for his peace.

Faith is an essential ingredient of prayer. In some situations we are full of faith, but quite shaky on others. Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith is able to give us that quiet confidence in prayer to see the impossible happen.

When we pray according to God’s will, we are assured of being heard and answered. Also, the will of God is the best place to be, even when painful waiting may be involved.

The earnest prayer of a person in a right relationship with God is very powerful and produces great results!

Praying in the name of Jesus is an expression of our submission to his will and a dependence on his ultimate authority over the situations we are praying for. When the prayer glorifies the Father through Jesus, there is a definite answer.

When we are weary, distressed or just not knowing how to pray in certain situations, we are not at a loss, because we have been given the Holy Spirit who prays on our behalf.

Fasting and praying does not change God, but it changes us bringing us into a greater alignment with his will. It is a wonderful spiritual discipline that draws us closer to God. And from that position of nearness, we have access to the greater riches of his kingdom.

Delayed answers to prayer are not an indication that God does not care or lacks the power to answer our request. Whatever the reason for the delay, we are encouraged to persevere in prayer as we wait upon his promises.

The problems of this world could be caused by natural or spiritual forces. Through prayer, we can have victory over even spiritual problems, caused by the unseen forces of darkness.

We are to pray for all people with all types of prayer: people in need, people who need God, especially leaders and rulers of nations that peace and righteousness may reign in the land.

Praying together as a family or a group, with a oneness of mind and purpose brings down the presence and power of God to bring answers, breakthrough and transformation in our situations.

Jesus teaches us the key components of prayer through the example of the Lord’s prayer: Calling out to God as Father, praying for his name to be revered, inviting his reign over the earth and his will to happen everywhere, seeking God for our daily needs, asking for forgiveness as we forgive others, praying for grace to be kept from evil and proclaiming his kingdom, power and glory.
